Rehab and training aren't separate disciplines — they're one continuum. Build strength, move pain-free, and perform at your peak.
Founded by Dr. Whitley Madison, Axis Methods brings physical therapy and performance coaching together as one continuum. Whether you're healing or pushing forward, it's one approach, built around you.
The name reflects the philosophy: an axis is the center point from which everything radiates. Every program, every session, every plan starts from that same center, built around you, your body, and your goals, then expands outward from there.
We believe growth happens best in the company of people who push you forward. That's why Axis isn't just a coaching brand, it's a way of life. It's about creating spaces, both virtual and in person, where like-minded people can connect, celebrate progress, and build community around a shared commitment to health and performance.
Axis Methods offers physical therapy, training, and coaching, in-person or virtual. Healing and performing happen in the same plan, not two.
I'm Dr. Whitley Madison, a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. I treat rehab and performance as one continuum, not two separate worlds. A decade in, my approach stays simple: build strength, prevent injury, move pain-free.
As a former collegiate athlete and NPC Bikini title holder, I understand performance, aesthetics, and longevity from experience, not just theory. Working with athletes past and present, I know "return to prior level of function" isn't enough for those who hold their movement to a higher standard.
That's why I founded Axis Methods: rehab and performance under one roof, built to fit your life, virtually or in person. I work with athletes, ex-athletes, and beginners with a history of injury who've never quite found their groove with fitness again, people ready for a more scientific approach to rediscovering confidence and joy in movement.
Originally from a small town in Arkansas, I now call Dallas home. Outside of coaching, you'll likely find me traveling, outdoors, at a music festival, or with my golden doodle, Olivia.

I've been working with Dr. Whitley Madison for a year for physical therapy and personal training. I've had a lumbar spinal fusion at L4 & L5 and total ankle reconstruction (all ligaments and tendons were torn, got an internal ankle brace installed, and cartilage repair). I never thought I'd be lifting weights and moving without pain/fear as I am now. Whitley's expertise and guidance have eased my pain and strengthened/stabilized my joints, muscles, and self-esteem!
I honestly cannot say enough good things about Whitley. After a broken ankle and resulting severe arthritis, I had basically given up on the idea that I could exercise consistently again. I had years of false starts and failures, and I had never lifted weights before working with her. Whitley singlehandedly changed that. Because she is a physical therapist and my personal trainer, I feel completely safe working out. Even during training sessions, she always has her PT lens on — watching my form, checking in with how my body feels, and making sure I'm not doing anything that could cause injury. That level of attention and expertise is rare, and it's the reason I trust her completely.
Her PT experience is truly what sets her apart. The self-pay model has been a game-changer for me because it allows her to treat what actually hurts that week, rather than being boxed in by insurance rules that pretend you can “fix” one body part at a time — which, let's be real, is not how chronic issues work. Some weeks we focus more on my ankle, other weeks it's limitations from other past injuries, and sometimes it's something completely unexpected, and she adapts seamlessly. As a result, I am stronger, healthier, and more confident in my body than I've ever been. People literally comment on my muscles now, which still feels surreal. Whitley has taught me not just how to lift weights, but how to do it correctly and safely — and she does it with patience, encouragement, and genuine care. On top of all that, she's just an incredible person. Working with her has been life-changing, and I recommend her without hesitation to anyone who wants to get stronger without fear of getting hurt.
Working with Whitley over the past months has done wonders in helping me feel confident going into my races for hyrox, half marathon, and marathon. I'm leaps and bounds from where I was in December dealing with some nagging lower body issues. Most recently she helped me get ready for hyrox Houston and absolutely crushed it! I would not have been able to do that without her. The professionalism and knowledge whenever I'm explaining the way my body is feeling is immediately addressed, getting straight to the root of the problem. Being able to go to Whitley helps me feel confident in whatever I'm dealing with before a race I'll be 100% with her expertise and just how great of a person she is to work with.
Dr. Whitley Madison helped me recover from a neck/lat injury. She is so patient mixing stretches, exercises and treatments to help me recover, and then we switched to strength training to try and prevent reoccurrence. Couldn't be happier!!!
